The origin of our eco project

The idea
independent lifestyle, self-directed living, autonomous household

In 2002 my acquainted paraglider and photographer said: "Vadim, you leave in the apartment with too exciting view. One day it will bring you an exciting idea".

And that happened.

The contemplation of spaciousness made more clean the feeling, that our family depends more and more from factors that don't depend from us: oil prices, international relationships, finances, politics (we have small international tourist business). And our efforts and profits are engulfing by increasing prices for goods, but real consumer's properties of the goods and its quality don't increase, even decrease.

We also get tired of events on the global energetic market. How we can plan our prices for half-year forward, if prices for aircraft and diesel fuels can increase with 20% during one month.

A thought has been formed, that we just need to create our own independent lifestyle, that will be autonomous enough, then we will become more free people. Spiritual and creative development is more important than everyday cares. And the results of this cares are engulfing successfully and with pleasure by corporations and governments. We think, that some concrete result, at least small, is more important than abstract business success.

I have begun to bake home bread without any additives, only with flour and natural living yeast.

One more reason to search for own independent lifestyle were changes in vegetables and fruits trade. We eat many vegetables, but there are fewer and fewer natural, tasty, organic vegetables in nearest small markets. And to visit everyday a supermarket is not acceptable.

The idea to create own independent lifestyle has began to transform to real project of buying and building of a village house, that would be maximal independent from external unnatural sources. Especially important is the possibility to have own ecological kitchen-garden, vineyard, green-house to cultivate parsley, dill, cabbage. For that we wanted to have own water source - well or spring. To supply the house with energy, we have planned to use renewable energy sources: solar, wind, thermal power, natural fuels (firewood, plant wastes from the parcel).

After 5 years of searching we have chosen village Oreshak on Frangensko plateau, 10 kilometres to the north from Varna, to accomplish our dream. We are bounded with business in Varna, so 20 minutes driving to the centre of city Varna was an advantage for us.
